Customized Employment
Customized Employment is individualizing the employment relationship
between employees and employers in ways that meet the needs of both. A
person centered approach to employment that is based on the individual’s
strengths, needs, and interests. A blend of services designed to increase
employment options for individuals with significant disabilities. This
course has fours lessons:

- Lesson II: Linking and Negotiating with Employers
- Lesson III: Customer Service
- Lesson IV: Case Studies
Interviewing and Hiring People with Disabilities
The learning objectives for this course are:
- Describe the legal framework for interviewing and hiring people with
disabilities.
- Identify appropriate techniques for conducting an employment interview
with people with disabilities.
- Explain the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements for pre-employment
testing and processing of employment applications.
- Describe the major employment provisions of the Americans with Disabilities
Act.
- Give examples of reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities.
- Identify obstacles to workplace accessibility and recognize appropriate
remedies.
Mental Health & The Recovery
Model: An Introduction
This course introduces the principles and practices of recovery as a
model for providing services to individuals with psychiatric disabilities.
Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to:
- Summarize key principles and practices of the recovery model.
- Contrast the recovery model of mental illness with the medical model.
- Explain the key concepts of the recovery model’s view of the relationship
between the practitioner and the person in recovery.
- Self-assess the degree of internalization of recovery model values
and language.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply recovery model values and concepts
when interacting with a person in recovery.
- Use recovery focused language.
Mental
Health & The Recovery Model: Practitioner's Guide
This course is offered as a guide for mental health practitioners interested
in adopting the principles and practices of the recovery model in their
work with people with psychiatric disabilities. Upon completion of the
course, the learner should be able to:
- Explain the key concepts of the recovery model’s view of the
relationship between the practitioner and a person in recovery.
- Integrate recovery model principles and practices and client assessments
into your practice.
- Formulate recovery based services and interventions by:
- Identifying ways to address client issues and barriers using recovery
model principles and practices.
- Assessing interventions and services for conformity to recovery
model principles and practices.
- Complete a self-assessment of conformity to recovery model principles
and practices.

Social Security Work Incentives
This course gives an overview of both Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) work incentives.

SSI Calculation Worksheet: a
customized, web-based application.
- This worksheet can be used by service providers
working with individuals with disabilities to help estimate the impact
of beneficiary income (earned and unearned) on Supplemental Security
Income (SSI) benefits. The program also calculates the effect of Social
Security work incentives on SSI benefit payments.
