The Social Security Administration (SSA) awarded 116 cooperative
agreements to a variety of community organizations called Benefits Planning,
Assistance, and Outreach (BPAO) projects. These BPAO projects provide
all SSA beneficiaries with disabilities (including transition-to-work
aged youth) access to benefits planning and assistance services. The community
organizations serving Maryland are Independence
Now, Inc. and Making
Choices for Independent Living, Inc. (M.C.I.L.).
Benefits InfoSource, the BPAO project within Independence Now, Inc, service
areas are Allegany, Calvert, Caroline, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick,
Garrett, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George`s, Queen Anne`s, St. Mary`s,
Somerset, Talbot, Washington, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties. For more
