Way Station, Inc. has received
grant funds from the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department
of Veterans Affairs to provide services to veterans throughout the State
of Maryland.
Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP)
Mission: To place homeless veterans in housing, jobs and assist them
in retaining employment.
Goals:
- Outreach to eligible veterans.
- Enrollment of eligible veterans.
- Assist enrollees in locating support services in the community.
- Offer training service, job development and employment referrals.
- Provide training to eligible veterans to develop skills for specific
employment.
- Coach, counsel and mentor veterans through the first 180 days on the
job.
- Help eliminate barriers to employment.
- Assist veterans with VA issues.
- Help veterans with health issues.
- Assist in transitional/permanent housing.
Eligibility: A veteran must meet all of the following requirements to
be eligible for this program:
- Must be a homeless veteran,
- Proof of veteran status (i.e. DD214 or VA ID Card) and
- Received any type of discharge except for dishonorable.
Veterans Workforce Investment Program (VWIP)
Mission: To meet the workforce investment needs of veterans and to perform
outreach and public information activities to develop and promote employment
and job training opportunities.
Goals:
- Outreach to eligible veterans.
- Enrollment of eligible veterans.
- Offer training services, job development and employment referrals.
- Provide training to eligible veterans to develop skills for specific
employment opportunities.
- Provide services to assist in reintegrating eligible veterans into
meaningful employment within the labor force.
- Stimulate the development of effective service delivery systems that
will address the complex problems facing eligible veterans.
- Provide career assessment testing.
- Provide follow-up services.
Eligibility: If a veteran meets any of the following four categories:
- Veterans with service connected disabilities,
- Veterans who have significant barriers to employment,
- Veterans who served on active duty in the armed forces during a war
or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized,
- Recently separated veterans (within 48 months of release or discharge).
Welcome Home Program
Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program
Mission: To provide seamless delivery of services to homeless veterans
that will lead to self-sufficiency. Helping veterans obtain affordable
permanent housing, shelter, sober-living environment, service enriched
housing, or referrals to programs appropriate to achieving their housing
needs.
Goals:
- To provide supportive housing and/or supportive services to homeless
veterans wishing to achieve residential stability.
- Help veterans increase their skill levels and/or income.
- Help veterans obtain greater self-determination.
- To provide recovery services to veterans achieving and maintaining
continuous sobriety.
- Provide employment services to veterans throughout their stay.
- Assist veterans in establishing good budgeting practices.
Eligibility: A veteran must meet all of the following requirements to
be eligible for this program:
- Must be a homeless veteran,
- Proof of veteran status (i.e. DD214 or VA ID Card),
- Received any type of discharge except for dishonorable,
- Must be motivated and willing to participate in program and
- Must be clean and sober for at least 60 days.
